Past Projects
A few years ago the HRC offered a citizenship test education program. The program tutored one green cardholder on the citizenship test, one to one. Each team set its own meeting places and times (one hour a week minimum). We provided teaching materials. A couple of individuals successfully went through the program and are now new citizens! The program is no longer active.
The HRC has also completed two books "Voices From The Periphery - Rogue Valley Farmworkers" and "Citizen Complaint and Commendation Procedures for Law Enforcement Departments in Jackson County".
In May of 2003 the HRC Board Members did a telephone and email survey of the school board candidates in Jackson and Josephine County. The elections were held on May 20, 2003. Six questions were asked dealing with text books, sex education, school prayer, bilingual education, gay/straight alliance student clubs, and diversity support. Some of the answers were startling.
